Happy 90th Birthday

I have never had the pleasure of celebrating someone's 90th birthday before but I gave this to one of our neighbours' this morning and he loved it.He is an absolute gem: Living alone but with regular visitors, he still reads the paper, does the crossword and number puzzles every day, still does the gardening. He said he would take it easier today because he overdid the lawn-mowing yesterday! He was a war hero too: Saved a German boy from drowning in a river when he was working fields there as a prisoner of war, which helped get him released back to France. He then used the German he had learned to save 7 local men here from being shot by a German officer by reasoning that none of them were the man he was looking for. The world needs more like this man! The cockrel and police badges have significance for him so formed the embellishments to the main image.

Not a 'usual' Friday Sketchers card but I used the current sketch for this one, just using a rectangle instead of an oval for the main image.
Used: Papermania Venetian Blue papers plus others from stash, Cuttlebug Slider and Harmony alphabet die-cuts, Anita's gems.

Going Wild!

Bright bold colours are unusual for me but I love the Dovecraft range 'Wild Blossom' by Kate Knight so here are a few cards made with the die-cut découpage packs (which include the plain papers), brads, ribbons, chipboards and patterned papers from the 12x12 papers. Large cards are A5; square are 12.5cm.

Sorry I seem to be blogging in batches lately: I am hoping to take part in more challenges and show them one at a time and regularly soon :)

The customer is always right!

I'm exhausted after today's art exhibition and there is still day 2 tomorrow...
In the meantime I can now show you another card order completed: A life history on a card and about as personalised as you can get! This is the customer's sketch for a 50th card, with the request that the inside should include pictures from a brochure to set the scene for the Thalasso spa day gift:and my realisation:
Note the details requested: Girl with 3 brothers; Marriage; Children - 2 boys & 1 girl; Number of their house; specific make of new car (I had to find out the colour!); biscuits representing where she works; 50th party including bottle of rum (made in Reunion where her husband is from). I started off looking for suitable stamps but soon ran out of suitable images in a suitable size. Peel-offs to the rescue! It is not what I would have thought of or perhaps chosen but the customer was happy. Hope it is well received!

Forever Friends

Been busy making cards all week but can't show you many at the moment and most are quick cards that I don't bother to blog but today I've made 14 Forever Friends découpage cards, having had the découpage already done so today was just mounting them. This week's challenge on the Forever Friends blog is 'Monochrome' so, like the DT, I haven't counted the brown of the bear and kept this card all pink as my entry for the challenge. From the 'Party Bag' pack with papers from the 'Loving You' pack.
I love the various découpage packs: Such a great character and they are so easy to do and come with co-ordinating papers, although I don't always use these. Here are a few of the others made today (sorry they are photographed in their bags ready for the fair I have this weekend):Découpage from the 'For Him' kit with Colorbox chalk ink direct to card for the background.
From the 'Loving You' pack. From the 'Loving you' pack, using a piece of wedding ribbon for the background; Nestabilitie-cut card, Dylon 3D pearl paint; Colorbox chalk ink; Prima flowers and Papermania pearly brad.
Cards above & below: Découpage & paper from the 'Loving You' pack

A real challenge !

I have been really busy lately making cards for local shops but also have had several commissions. Here is one I made in February when the lady arrived on the Saturday and asked for a card in a hurry when I was preparing for a crop on the Sunday (and haven't blogged that yet either!) and leaving for the UK on the Monday: Here is the sketch she gave me, wanting the Italian and French flags and maps on the front and back and a collection of photos inside the card:I created the flags with strips of paper stuck on to the card and printed the maps. Fortunately I had some 3D embellishments (Jolee's) around which were perfect to add more interest and I was able to scan the photos to create the inside on the computer, adding a pop-up section to the centre. She collected my rushed card on the Monday lunchtime and was thrilled so I am now making her another card to order. :)

Mini-album

I was asked to do a workshop for a group of women a few nights ago after they saw this album so here is the mini-album I made with them, still waiting to have photos and other decoration added but they wanted to see how to make the album to finish at their leisure and so that they can make more as wanted. Folded shut it is 10x15 cm.
Used the Eazi-score board with Papermania card, ColorBox fluid chalk ink, and the gorgeous Wild Blossom range of papers and glittered chipboard from Dovecraft. Also used a corner rounder to create the scalloped edge and the Big Bite to set the eyelets.

Flower Tag

I'm showing you this as it might spark an idea for personalising a flower or plant gift. It's very simple but I wanted to personalise the funeral flowers for my neice and crafting was something we shared so it was important to me to make something. Yellow was an important 'theme' so I took an A5 piece of card and folded it lengthwise over 2 garden tags and used double-sided tape to secure it. I inked the edges with yellow Brilliance and layered Papermania yellow paper with some pearly textured paper and then her name, cut on the Craft Robo and covered in Papermania yellow flocking powder. I decoupaged the bear with flowers and added some Sakura glaze to the flower centres and bear's nose and finished with some yellow ribbon. It looked lovely on the cushion of yellow and white flowers and made my brother smile on a day full of tears.
