Quick cards

With a serious need to restock, I got down to using some of my scraps and images that I'd stamped and coloured but not used. Managed to get 13 cards done yesterday afternoon, here are a few: The hedgehog and sheep are Penny Black stamps painted with H2Os; everything else is using Funky Fairy: Rags 2 and backing paper and Funky Birthday, Funky Flowers and Pinkie Pops collections. I used pearly paper from The PaperMill Shop under the stamped images: It has a beautiful off-white sheen and is very strokable!

Here are a couple of quick digital things using Funky Fairy 'Months': Just for our enjoyment as a family: Our current desktop and a scrap page.

Next best thing ?

I'm waiting very impatiently for my Cuttlebug embossing folders to arrive so I can have a proper play with my new toy. Did the post lady arrive with them this morning? No, but she did come in and buy 3 cards!
The French custom of sending new year cards throughout January is keeping me busy and I'm not complaining :)

Funky Fairy Challenge 2/2008 & Daring Cardmakers

Hey, look and it's only Tuesday! One of my resolutions was to be quicker at getting the challenges done!
This week's Monday challenge was to create a card from a sketch which can be seen here.
Tougher than it looks! And sorry for the dreadful photo: Card looks a lot better than it appears here. It is using Funky Fairy 'Funky Birthday' kit with one pattern printed directly to the card and the card edges chalked round, strips of another patterned paper put through my new cuttlebug and chalked and a good dose of glitter given to everything!

Another resolution was to join in more challenges and it helps that this fits with the new Daring Cardmakers challenge of using crafty christmas presents as Santa bought me a cuttlebug, which I love. Only want it for embossing and the odd thing my craft robo won't cut but, while I am waiting for more embossing folders, I used a square repeatedly at an angle to get the streamers effect on this card.

Monday challenge and more Pinkie Pops

Told you wouldn't be long! Here's a corset card I have made using Pinkie Pops. This will be for my sister-in-law's birthday later this month so shhh... don't tell!



















Also my Monday Challenge item is using Pinkie Pops too. Sharron's challenge was to alter an item using any Funky Fairy products. Well, this bit of junk mail from Renault was waiting for us in UK: It is a great design where the inside parts slide out on a piece of plastic ( had to disassemble it, ie rip it apart, to find out how that worked!) to reveal a USB pen that I have reformatted ready for use. I was so impressed with the design I kept the lot and felt it was screaming to have something done with it so that's what got the funky treatment: The box and the USB: Perfect for sending some photos and scrapbooked pages to a friend/relation in UK to show them what we're up to over here in France.

Pinkie Pops

Funky Fairy launched 'Pinkie Pops' on 1st January so I can now share another I made earlier: Hope you like it. The papers and all embellishments are from the Pinkie Pops collection. I just designed the bag and added the ribbon. There is lots of variety in this collection and I love it so there will be more creations appearing very soon. Sharon is running a Pinkie Pops competition on her blog - see links over to the right for the Funky Fairy blog and website.

First stamp creation

Firstly, happy new year / bonne année for 2008. Where did the time go? Hope your holidays have been good ones. Some differences we've discovered in France this year: Boxing day is NOT a bank holiday and no stockings over the fireplace; slippers are left out instead! Our first Christmas in France was lovely and we had a great 6 days in the UK over New Year visiting friends and family.

So, back to the crafting. Here's one I made earlier, an order delivered on Boxing Day: I finally got round to using my imagepac (had it since April) to make my own clear stamps and the results were perfect. And subject matter? A puffin of course! OK so maybe a little unusual but not if you are Breton and drink beer: Work that one out! I used my stamp to make 10 of these cards and have another happy customer. Sentiment printed on acetate over docrafts paper and white card blank, which was inked in same colour round edges, with silver peeloff edging and puffin stamped in black, embossed with holographic powder and coloured with H2Os, matted on silver mirri card. Bloavez mad! (best wishes in Breton)

Monday challenge

Last minute as usual...Dawn's challenge this week was to create a New Year's card. Always seem to do mine last minute but that's me: I'm a last minute, cram everything in, kinda gal !
Backing paper is from Funky Fairy Colourful Xmas Daze.

Happy exhaustion!

The expo & demo for the Téléthon (research into genetic disease) went really well. The school bought classes of children round on Friday afternoon so I had to explain techniques in French and got a round of applause from one class! I had 2 brilliant French women helping me on Saturday who were able to chat to people about things and do the sales while I did the making. Had loads of pics taken as well so likely to be in the local paper but this is one my husband took while I was setting up. At first it felt scary to fill a whole room and then I was struggling to find space.

Sold about 130 cards plus other bits and pieces: I gave the Téléthon over the 25% of takings agreed and the organiser said it was the most an expo had ever contributed. The cards of local scenes (below) sold very quickly. I have 26 more orders and people asking if they can pop round to buy. Our village made 12,689€ all together and I shall be going to the cheque presentation on Saturday night. Very pleased about all that but got LOADS of jobs to catch up on, including all my Christmas shopping. Over in the UK for a few days visiting family and friends just after Christmas. Looking forward to that but it will also be exhausting as they are spread across the country.

Happy to say Dawn has made life a bit easier: This week's challenge is to make a New Year's card. As long as that can be in French, it won't be hard to do as that is what most French send cards for: Far less demand for Christmas cards. Hopefully I shall catch up with myself sometime in February!

Monday challenge

It is very late on Sunday night so apologies that I'm not going to make this week's challenge. It was a good one too: To make a Valentine's but the card must not contain the colours red or pink, can use any text but not the word Love, use any image but not hearts or flowers and finally no rude ones !
The thought is there though and looks something like this.My husband is cycle mad so imagine this matted on dark blue and white card and it would be perfect for him! Certainly wouldn't catch me pedalling it though. I quickly created this in Paint Shop Pro but can't actually make the card as half my stuff is still packed in the car from doing the Téléthon demo this weekend. More on that tomorrow...

Tiered Christmas boxes

This 20 piece set of boxes was based on templates in the Craft Robo Crafty Club by Sharon Long. I printed 2 different designs from Funky Fairy Papercrafts 'Merry Christmas' collection, one on to red card and one on to white, and used the CR to cut. Having said that the red card is 260g so the robo just scored in to it and I used scissors to free the shapes. I also removed all the dashed lines and scored creases by hand and created the top red box by taking apart and altering the small one (resized it and created a separate lid). After gluing all the boxes and lids, I finally added ribbon and holly pieces cut from spare pieces of the printed card. Might get round to adding a third larger tier but I think there's enough there for now!
