Scrapbook page - Play

I currently have a little exhibition of some scrapbook pages and mini-albums in the local library just to raise awareness of what scrapbooking is about and of the course I started in the village last month. Here is another page I created yesterday with the Association at Tourc'h. I'm looking forward to making a slate hanging there on Friday night.
Background and photo mount: Embossed Bazzill; Papers: Basic Grey 'Boxer - Commando' & DCWV 'Spring'; Papermania ribbon; Jolee's 'Lighthouse' stickers; Doodlebug alphabet; VersaMagic inks.

Just Christmas ... Cards Sketch

I made this square card for 'Just Christmas and Birthday cards' fortnightly challenge sketch:
Une carte selon the sketch chez 'Just Christmas and Birthday cards':and then another similar but A5: et d'autre similaire avec format A5:Very quick and easy using Kanban's backing and die-cut sheets plus silver mirri board embossed with the Cuttlebug snowflakes folder 3D mounted on blue card inked with silver Brilliance and then white card.
JCBC are also having a DT call and I have sat on my hands since I read it: I have been on a DT before and know the commitment it demands but that was different... Sketches are what I love and Christmas and Birthday cards are what I do most: I know I can do it, just have to be organised... Here's my hat being thrown in... :)
So I need to show 2 favourite cards:I love what the DT do on JCBC, just hope now they feel my style will fit in alongside theirs!

Page and mini-album

On my weekend crop at Bailleul (northern France) where I lead workshops making a calendar and cards, I was inspired by the Flanders roofs to make a quick sketch and by the good food and beer (just the one glass !) for the resulting page. First time any of these people had met but we had a great time :DJ'ai met mes photos des souvenirs dans un mini 15x15cm j'ai créé dans un crop à Plémet (56) le dimanche dernier.
Souvenir photos are captured in the mini 15x15cm (6x6") I made on another crop last Sunday.J'ai utilisé: Bazzill (fond de page et mini) avec la gamme de My Mind's Eye Bloom & Grow et le titre du mini découpé avec la Cuttlebug.
Used: Page: Card is Bazzill, title is white Doodlebug coloured with Versamark and Ranger 3D glossy accents, everything else is from My Mind's Eye Bloom & Grow range.
Mini: dark green card is Bazzill, title cut with Cuttlebug 'Not the Boss', everything else is MME Bloom & Grow.

Well where did that month go? I've been to the north of France giving workshops on a crop weekend, across to the UK to see the new grandchild, and ... I've got lots to show you, just got to find time to blog it all!So first up, a page made at Pont Aven's association who kindly invited me along for an evening. Papers, including punched out circles and the paper animals are by imaginisce, alphabet by Fiskar's Heidi Grace, ribbons mostly PaperMania, and stitching: yes, me: There's a rare sight!

Stamp with Fun # 27 - Card with acetate

If you can bare another step card, here's one with a difference made for this week's Stamp with Fun challenge.I got the idea from a Create & Craft programme with Sheena Douglas a few week's ago. I stock and sell a number of Creative Expressions products, such as the Beach stamps used in my last step card, so they email the programme times. Anyway, I liked the idea of putting the acetate over to protect the finer details and to be able to use the bow to hang it from a tree or similar so in this case I embossed the back of the acetate, stamped snowflakes on the front and punched holes with the Big Bite to thread silver ribbon through for my bow.
Used: Dovecraft square card blank (back folded in half, front concertinaed twice) ; Whiff of Joy 'Charlotte with Sleigh', stamped with Versafine and coloured with watercolour pencils and highlighted with a glue pen and Glamour Dust powder; pearl white paper embossed with Snowflakes Cuttlebug folder and highlighted with Brilliance silver ink; snowflake stamp (unknown make) stamped on acetate with Brilliance platinum; Compagnie des elfes text stamped with ColorBox pumpkin patch and cut out with Spellbinders tags on the cuttlebug; tree is an 'extra' from an Anita's decoupage pack.

Basic Grey Sketch challenge

I used Basic Grey Cupcake papers for this fortnight's sketch by Martine on the BG challenge blog. As it was for a man, the 3 big flowers became 3 little star brads but it is all true to sketch, turned 90°. Unfortunately the colours have gone a little wierd in the photo and this is as close as I can get them to look how I think they should be! Everything is Basic Grey Cupcake except the metal embellishments (I know where I bought them but not the company -?), the scraps of red star paper to which I added glue pen and Glamour Dust for extra bling and the Compagnie des elfes text stamp.

Step card - Beach scene

The Daring Cardmakers' challenge this week is 'folding up' which prompted me to get another step card done that has been in my head for ages. Although I wish the lighthouse was more to one side or other, I like how it has turned out: I think it has more of a 3D scene than the others I have made although I am now working on a winter scene too! If you want to see my other step cards (all very different), just click on the label 'Step card' at the bottom of this post and it will show them together :)
I started with a Dovecraft square card blank and folded the back in half and the front in to four and then used U-mount Create-a-scene Beach; masked and stamped with Versafine (grass, birds, some sand layers & boat attached separately); coloured with Distress inks; shell from local beach!

Sketch Saturday # 71

This card uses the great sketch on 'Sketch Saturday'. Struggling a bit with the 'pet' theme requested but our pets are 3 hens and I definitely don't have any stamps of them but it lead me thinking to how I love going 'up the field' (ground we have behind the house) and relaxing by listening to the bird song and we keep the field chemical-free so the hens and wild birds can enjoy it: The finches and other small birds even come and take the hen's food and the pigeons help themselves to our crops: Enough rambling: Have I justified my choice of paper and stamps enough?
Used/ J'ai utilisé: papers/papiers: PaperMania 'Sweet Nothings'; stamps/tampons: Inkadinkado 'Birds Galore'; ink/encre: Brilliance 'pearlescent lavender'; embossing powder/poudre embosser: transparent/e; flowers, ribbon and 3D pearl paint/ fleurs, ruban et peinture 3D.

Sketch & Stamp # 12

For this card I mirrored the sketch from 'Sketch & Stamp' by Barb and used autumn colours as that's the challenge on Claire Curd's blog: The polka dot background paper is from CCSR 'The Big One' and I added a mat of gold-coloured basic grey paper to give another colour so that I could add the ribbon, flowers and gems in those tones.

Basic Grey Stamps

Not my usual style of card but I love these chalk inks :
I simply used the Basic Grey Insignia stamps with VersaMagic Spanish Olive and Perfect Plumeria chalk inks and layered up on to a PaperMania Rich Red paper.

A quick birthday card

Oh, I was so in a rush today! I went to Just Christmas and Birthday cards, knowing they'd have a sketch I could use when I didn't know whether I was coming or going, and they didn't fail; plus I embossed some Basic Grey which is the challenge over on the BG challenge blog this last fortnight (last minute entry there then)! Of course, things always go wrong when you rush: Enough that you can picture the point where the self-stick chipboard letter left the sticky bit on the sheet: No probs, reached for the tacky glue and gave it a good squeeze: Covered everywhere in 3D gloss - wrong bottle! Now I've just uploaded the pic and waited for it to come in to focus and realised this was as good as it was going to get, and of course it is already in the post (and already late)!Used Basic Grey Cupcake papers; Cuttlebug Traffic Jam embossing folder; 'Thickers' letters; Sakura Stardust pens; Inkadinkado 'Humourous birthday' sentiment, ColorBox chalk ink & Brilliance 'Rocket Red'.

Another double scrapbook page

And more Basic Grey (I'm becoming obsessed)! This time it is the 'Cupcake' papers I have used...Catching up on recording moments with old photos, and I've used the originals here which I don't usually do. The pages fit together beautifully but were easier to photograph singly.Butterfly cut with the Cuttlebug, big tag cut by hand, ribbons and buttons from stash, primas coloured with ColorBox chalk ink and everything else (I think) from Basic Grey 'Cupcake'.

Scrapbook Page with stamped background

I created this page last night at the association in Tourc'h with a photo taken Wednesday: We are having glorious weather at the moment! The background started as an almost plain pale blue sheet from Basic Grey 'Periphery' and I stamped it and coloured it, then added layers including a white sheet typed on the computer coloured with distress inks, and a printed label.Used: Basic Grey 'Periphery' papers and alphabet; U-mount Create-a-scene 'Coast'; Distress Inks - Faded Jeans and Burlap; VersaMagic - Agean Sea; Glossy 3D; EK Success 'dotted wave' border punch; PaperMania ribbon; digital label from ScrapGirls.

Sketch Saturday #69

I've a bag of decoupage that I've made up but never mounted so here's one used for "Sketch Saturday" challenge #69. The paper is from DCWV 'All Dressed Up' and the pirate is from Jolly Nation mounted on a oval cut with Nestabilities and the Cuttlebug. I stamped the background and used WHSmith rub-ons for the text.J'ai un sac de découpage j'ai fait mais non-montrée.

Basic Grey challenge - Scrapbook page

The latest Basic Grey challenge uses a photo as inspiration so I've picked out the colour scheme of green and white with warmer tones, scallops on the bedspread with overhanging flowers: All papers are from BG 'Sugared' kit as well as the letters, accents and borders and I added the matching rub-ons plus Prima flowers, 3D glossy, PM gems, Inkadinkado stamps and chalk inks from ColorBox queue 'Pumpkin Patch'. DT member Jo also has yet-to-be-released BG candy!

Caardvarks - Sketch 1

This card follows sketch 1 of the latest Caardvarks challenge. I'm just not sure why the text has disappeared on the photo: It is fine in real life! Honest!
Used: Offcuts and recycled bits of card and paper, handcut poinsettia with a string of seed beads, CdE stamp with gold Brilliance.

Double page scrapbook layout

My son's Christening: Started this before the summer and finally got round to finishing it, I think?! All papers, apart from the title, started as white and were coloured by stamping and sponging with Distress Inks in Dusty Concord, Tattered Rose and Shabby Shutters.Main band of paper was embossed by hand-drawing the pattern with a Zig embossing pen and embossing with clear powder and then rubbing the Distress Ink over with a make-up sponge.

Title font cut with 'Fancy Pants' Cuttlebug alphabet; rub-ons by WH Smith (UK newsagents!); flowers and spacers from Tina (thank you again, I love them), ribbons from local market.

Daring Cardmakers: Sunflower step card

I've lots to show but I'll stagger things over the next few days otherwise it will be all and nothing again :) First up: I've been playing with step cards and made this one with the Daring Cardmakers challenge, Sunflowers, in mind. I was also aiming for a quick step card that can be reproduced in a workshop and this fitted the bill !Voici ma carte pour le challenge "Daring Cardmakers" de cette semaine.
Used/ J’ai utilisé: PaperMania Secret Garden papers; handmade tree from scraps of Bazzill; SeeDs 'Sunflower' set and CdE sentiment on scraps of yellow card; ColorBox Queue 'Pumpkin Patch' chalk inks and Sakura Stardust pens for highlights

Another scrapbook page

This page is my 'homework' for the Tourc'h Scrapbooking Association I am part of: We all had to hand in a photo of ourselves and these were put in envelopes, mixed and handed out randomly to scrap over the summer: My poor unfortunate is Chantal and we have to hand over our pages tomorrow night. The pressure! What if she doesn't like it? ETA: Big sigh of relief - Chantal loved her page ! And it got other admiring comments too. Thanks for your comments :)I copied, reprinted and cut out the photo. Took the idea of the ties from the lacing on Chantal's top...
Used: Bazzill 'Palo Verdi' and 'Parakeet' embossed leaves (I drew and cut all the shapes by hand); PaperMania 'Olivine'; MME 'Bloom & Grow' ribbon; ColorBox queue 'Pumpkin Patch'; PM foam alphaminis; Dovecraft 'Wild Blossom' chipboard shapes.

Scrapbook page - Thomas the Tank day out

Came across a load of old photos yesterday so I've started scrapping some of them:
Deliberately wanted to keep this one simple, more in the 'European' style which is quite flat without lots of embellishments but uses shapes which reflect the photos. This made it more of a challenge for me but I had the idea of reflecting the train engine on the page...

Making Cards Winner!

More good news: Keep it coming!!!
Got my September edition to Making Cards magazine and not only was this card featured in it (p54) but I've won £50 of Hobby craft vouchers: Doing my happy dance !!!
I don't usually send in cards but as this one was based on an idea in the June mag I emailed a pic and they asked for the card to be sent in so it being featured wasn't so much of a shock but the prize was a total surprise! Wonder when I'll get the vouchers? Another reason for visiting the UK soon... :) More happy dance...
Trop contente :)

Baby Boy - A Nappy Card

Good news! My husband's 2nd grandchild has arrived safely although 2+ weeks early. Overnight I had the idea of a wrap card being nappy style but wanted it to be able to stand up independently so that morphed in to a nappy holding a personalised tag on the front of a card:I like playing Nanny Karen but still argue I'm far too young LOL! Guess a trip to the UK to see the little fella will be coming soon...
Backing card stamped with SeeDs 'Cute & Cuddly' set, PaperMania mulberry paper used for the nappy, PM brad and wired cord shaped to resemble the nappy pin, inked edges and stamping using ColorBox 'Misty Meadow' chalk inks.

Births, deaths and marriages

A strange day of mixed emotions! A friend announced the safe arrival of their baby boy and our neighbour died. He was 90, a war hero, still sharp and lovely as ever but 3 operations in as many months was too much and he slipped away. He was wonderfully welcoming when we bought our house here and really helped us settle in: I'm sad and we shall miss him but the birth reminds us life goes on...
The marriage: I do seem to get some strange card requests and I have to explain that, here in France guests do not take cards to a party: They are usually something to post, not to hand over as they are in the UK (which makes me wonder about other countries?). So, mother of the bride had the lovely idea to put a card on each table which the guests can write messages in and she will send one each month after the wedding so the couple will receive the good wishes over the next few months. She asked me if I could make them in the wedding colours of chocolate and cream, each a little different and with the animal each table is themed with: That's the strange part - Rhino, Elephant, Hippo, Tortoise and Giraffe! Never had those in mind for wedding stationery, and trying to colour nicely when 3 of them are just grey! LOL
I did one to get approval of colour, style and my French and she was delighted: Here's how they turned out...

Used Nestabilities Labels 3; Curved Rectangles and Classic circles, Cuttlebug Floral Borders and stamps from Lidl (yes really!) with water-colour pencils and added texture of ColorBox Queue fluid chalk on the tortoise and giraffe. Printed text from the computer.

Ready Steady Stamp Challenge

First time I have taken part in this challenge since it morphed from what used to be Ismaki at the start of the summer: Ready Steady Stamp gives a recipe of ingredients to use. The 5 ingredients this time are: Monument; blue; metal embellishment; wax resist technique & cork. The technique is explained here and basically consists of embossing wax paper and then ironing it between card to transfer the wax that then acts as a resist to ink. I received a batch of the new Cuttlebug designs on Friday so I'm slowly loading them in to my eBay shop and used the new Fleur de Lis Cuttlebug folder here (love it!) and used damp foam with Broken China Distress Ink to colour the card, stamped my monuments (eiffel tower & arc de triomphe from Royal Langnikel set) on to it, then trimmed, tore and inked the edges. I mounted my metal embellishments on to a cork that I had sliced up (very carefully). It's a very simple card : Just feel I need a sentiment to go bottom left when I have decided what it should be...
