Mixed Média Champignons

J'aime tous les merveilleux champignons sauvages qui apparaissent à cette période de l'année et qui ont inspiré ma décoration, un projet réalisé pour l'équipe Design Team de ColourCraft.

J'ai acheté une base en bois et j'ai rassemblé des morceaux de carton et des rouleaux pour les recycler et créer les formes de champignons. Deux tubes ont été coupés en hauteur et sur toute leur longueur et enroulés plus étroitement pour obtenir les différentes tailles. J'ai rempli les tubes avec des morceaux de carton pour les rendre plus stables et leur donner une plus grande surface à coller en haut et en bas.

Pour décorer les parties inférieures, du papier aquarelle a été coloré avec les poudres Brusho dans les tons de Burnt Sienna et de brun clair et foncé (Light Brown & Dark Brown).

Des boîtes en carton ont été utilisées pour couper les chapeaux des champignons. Les peintures acryliques rouge, jaune et vert feuille ont été mélangées pour obtenir un brun-rouge et, bien qu'elles ne soient pas visibles, j'ai peint le carton avec ceci.

Une fois sec, j'ai découpé le papier d'aquarelle pour qu'il s'ajuste autour des tiges de champignons et crée les branchies des champignons. Ceux-ci ont été pliés en accordéon, puis pulvérisés avec un spray cuivre (Copper Shimmer) pour le plus petit champignon, or (Gold) pour la taille moyenne et le bronze pour le plus grand.

Les tissus Lutradur et Tyvek réagissent très bien à la chaleur, rétrécissent et produisent des effets de dentelle, alors je voulais les utiliser pour le dessus des champignons.

Les morceaux ont été coupés à la taille suivante: un cercle de Tyvek et deux cercles de Lutradur pour chaque champignon. Ceux-ci ont été pulvérisés avec un spray Shimmer et laissés à sécher.

Une fois sec, le papier pour aquarelle était collé sur les champignons:

Les papiers Lutradur et Tyvek étaient chauffés pour obtenir ces merveilleuses textures dentelées et bosselées ...

et ensuite collé sur le dessus des champignons avec du Gel Medium, Tyvek d'abord suivi des deux couches de Lutradur:

La base en bois a été peint avec du Brusho Dark Brown mélangé à de l’eau pour s’harmoniser aux champignons. J'ai également utilisé des peintures métallisées pour frotter les parties en relief du Lutradur afin d'améliorer la texture et la brillance.

Enfin, pour obtenir un peu de contraste sur les dessus, j’ajoutai des couleurs de Brusho Leaf Green (verte) aux bouts de papier restants et je les réactivais avec de l’eau et du vaporisateur doré. J'ai utilisé cela pour découper des feuilles et les coller ainsi que des sequins sur le dessus des champignons.

J'adore particulièrement les tiges et les branchies: très réaliste!

Winter 'Tim' tags

Before winter leaves us, I thought it time that I shared my winter tags inspired by Tim Holtz's December tags (yes, just 3 months behind!!!):

Avant l'hiver nous quitte, je vais vous montrer mes étiquettes inspirée par Tim Holtz' étiquettes de décembre (Oui, 3 mois en retard!!!). 
I used the same technique of inking the tags and ribbons with a mix of Distress Stains - Fired Brick and Tarnished Brass on the first one; Broken China and Brushed Pewter on the second. I used the same general layout as Tim showed on his tags and added stamping to the backgrounds and different dies as the main features on the tags. I was particularly excited to use the Snowflake Rosette die with foil on card to create the centre piece for the blue card: Love it!
J'ai utilisé les même techniques de colorer les étiquettes et rubans avec une mélange de Distress Stains - Fired Brick (rouge) et Tarnished Brass (d'oré) sur la première; Broken China (bleu) et Brushed Pewter (étain) sur la deuxième. Elles ressemblent les originales modèles mais j'ai ajouté les tamponnages aux fond et j'ai utilisé les découpes différentes. J'adore la rosace de flocon découpé de alu auto-collant sur papier épais.

I also had 3 different groups making these with me where I was happy to explain the techniques in French. Many of them made tags with me last year so I asked what they did with them: No-one gave them away as cards or tags - They all kept them and were pleased to add to their collection!

This is how I displayed mine this year: A photo hanging system from IKEA where you cut the cord to the length wanted and use clips to create the display: Easy to change with the seasons. Time for me to catch up the Tim Holtz tags of 2013!

Compendium of Cusriosities #8 - Inked Grunge

Another piece for my wooden house: You could be mistaken for thinking that we are very romantic and, although we are between ourselves on an everyday basis, we are the couple who never do Valentine's and have been known to miss our wedding anniversary by several days on more than one occasion! Outward shows of romance are rare! So, I've quite shocked myself by inking up these two grungeboard hearts with our initials. I've used the technique on p39 of Tim's book as per the Compendium of Curiosities challenge on Linda's L3 blog with the addition of some gold spray on the small heart which I then picked up from the teflon mat with my finger and smeared on parts of the larger heart. The camera flash has really highlighted those bits.
Used: Idea-ology grungeboard 'elements' with Fired Brick and Frayed Burlap Distress Inks on the big heart and Walnut Stain on the small one; Cosmic Shimmer Rich Gold; Stamps: Tim Holtz 'Urban Grunge' stamps; Archival ink; JoAnn's letters.

Une autre pièce pour ma maison en bois: Il est rare que je suis si romantique! J'ai fait moi-même choqué par encrage jusqu'à ces deux cœurs grungeboard avec nos initiales. J'ai utilisé la technique sur la p39 du livre de Tim selon le 'Compendium des Curiosities' défi sur le blog Studio L3 de Linda avec l'ajout de quelques embruns d'or sur le petit coeur que j'ai ensuite repris à partir du tapis en téflon avec mon doigt et enduit sur certaines parties du le plus grand coeur. Le flash de l'appareil photo a vraiment mis en évidence ces parties.

Homespun Chic - Recycling

I love the new GCD Studios 'Homespun Chic' papers and used them to recover a small sweet tin: Ready for more sweets I hope :)  ETA: Not only are the flowers part of one design but they are also plastic coated (glossed) so they should last a while too!

A hanging thingy !

Putting together a number of techniques, I've made a hanging thingy very influenced by Hels, right down to the beaded fringe and including hearts for her Sunday Stampers challenge this week. I've said this before but if you haven't seen her blog and the things she makes you should!

I've also managed to include all the ingredients for the Ready, Steady, Stamp challenge: green, copper and sand; children; heat embossed metal; die-cut; funky foam. (Vis ton rêve = live your dream)

Used: mountboard pieces coloured with Shabby Shutters distress ink and (background) sprayed with Golden Mint Cosmic Shimmer, stamped with Shabby Shutters distress ink and SeeDs children stamp, text stamped with Brilliance Cosmic Copper; sand-coloured foam heated and stamped with Hampton Art key stamp and Brilliance Cosmic Copper; Spellbinders copper metal embossed with Cuttlebug Heart Blocks and also die-cut and embossed with Butterfly combo then inked with holographic black and heat-embossed with clear powder; Prima flower, copper eyelets (which are straight unlike how they look in the photo !).

2nd Birthday Book - Livre d'anniversaire

Oh the irony of doing a birthday book to get organised and finishing this one too late for it to arrive in time! This one in stronger colours using Dovecraft 'Birthday' 8"x8" paper pack, Scrapbook Sally blue 12"x12" card and a red Bind-It-All wire. The colours go together better than I think these photos make them look!(The first one I made with some instruction is here.)

I've put a notelet piece, stamped with Inkadinkado stamps and blue Brilliance, in the front pocket ready to write the birthday greeting. It would be nice to fill one with cards as a present for a non-cardmaker.

J'ai créé une livre d'anniversaire comme une carte/cadeau pour ma belle-soeur pour organiser les cartes elle fera dans l'année. J'ai utilisé 6 feuilles de 305 x 305 mm pour les pages d'intérieur plus 2 pièces 15,4 x 20,4 décorée avec papier pour les couverture, reliure avec la Bind-It-All. Un autre exemple, avec le schéma pour plier les feuilles d'intérieur, est dessous ici.

CD holder - Porte CD

Here's a little something I made on Wednesday in a group. Buying the insert and fixings made it quite expensive but the case itself is made with pieces of 2.5mm thick board covered with some Scivertex I had left over from another project. It would be fairly easy to make the concertina to go inside as well but it was soooo much quicker to use a ready-made one !

Seeing (and hearing !!!) some of the others hammering a hole punch tool through I opted to leave fixing the handle until the next day and tried the Big Bite: Fantastic! I had never tried that thickness of card and fell in love with my Big Bite all over again at how easy (and silent) it was.

En peu de cartonnage j'ai créé mercredi avec carton de 2,5mm et scivertex. J'ai acheté les vis, fermeture et les pochettes d'intérieur: Alors, un peu cher! J'ai utilisé la Crop-a-dile 'Big Bite' pour faire les trous pour les vis: trop facile !

Birthday Book - Une livre d'anniversaire

I had the idea of making one of these for my sister-in-law's birthday when she said she'd like to be more organised with remembering birthdays this year. She is another card-maker so I thought it would help her organise card-making in advance. I left her present with her when we were over at Christmas and will send a book instead of a card with a note tucked in the first pocket. So I have made two this week: This one is actually for me and is my proto-type and I have to finish off the second one to post to her (and remember to photograph it first!).

I'm entering this in Hels birthday challenge to celebrate the 'Sunday Stampers' being 2 years old. Hels makes all sorts of wonderful art so I recommend a hop over to her blog if you haven't found it already. AND, this challenge is sponsored by The Artistic Stamper with some gorgeous Mabel Lucie Attwell stamps and Kling-on.

My book is made with 2 pieces of chipboard covered with Dovecraft 'Wild Blossom' paper and chipboard, 6 pieces of 12"x12" card and the Bind-It-All. This is how I folded the thin card, making sure the folds were well flattened with a bone folder:

I folded the card in half then turned up 4" (or whatever you want as long as you do the same on each), creased it really flat and then folded it out, cut sections off to get a slanted pocket (you could punch the edge for a different look), then refolded. This gives an 6"x8" book - plenty of space for standard size cards and envelopes. Once it was all ready I punched the holes with the bind-it-all and fixed the wires, using over-sized ones to allow for cards to be inserted as well. I printed the months on matching plain paper and stuck them in.

Hopefully it means my sister-in-law and I will both be more organised this year!

Ribbon box and Magnolia card

I joined in with a workshop on the Ascrappmoi forum yesterday and covered a shoe box to use keep my ribbon bits in. Then made a card with some leftover bits and a Magnolia image that I'd coloured with watercolour pencils a while ago.
Ma boite de atelier Coha sur forum Ascrappmoi hier. C'est à garder mes morceaux de rubans. Apres, j'ai fait une carte avec des chutes! Used: Making Memories Blooms and Buttons and mini brads on the box, small primas and pearl paint on the card. Letters and tags cut with Cuttlebug Harmony alphabet.

Arty Girlz challenge - Alter It!

Seem to be behind with everything still but the Arty Girlz challenge ending today (!) was 'Alter It!' and I had in mind to use these US postal envelopes to make an expanding file: Got to find some way to get organised!!!So set off by cutting them in half, scoring in at about 2cm each side and cutting the bottom corners off at an angle so I could fold them in for the 'expanding' part:Stuck 5 of these half-envelopes together and then set about covering them. I used 2 pieces of docrafts 12"x12" paper and measured the front with a flap + gusset underneath, concertina sides and a flap over the top edge:I did the back similarly but without the underneath part, some extra concertina bits to finish the sides, then some extra pieces over the tops of the inner bits to neaten where the envelopes join.
Quite pleased with how it turned out:

Funky Fairy Challenge 11

Well first of all I had a rummage through the stamps I haven't used in a long time and made this card:
The stamp (by Stampin up) is very versatile because it comes with a separate basket and things to go in it so I have Christmas, crafting, and other goodies to go in the basket but they are a nightmare to line up as they are not clear stamps and also I like to get some 3D feel between the things in the basket and the things hanging over the basket but they are on the same stamp. So, this was a fiddly stamping on different scraps of Funky Fairy papers and a bit of brown paper and layering them, cutting little slots for the eggs to fit in etc. Image layered on scrap of green card and FF 'Meadow' paper. Needless to say, stamps are now back in the drawer!
Next decided to do something that is just for me, as it says in the rhyme:I've just started a course to improve my french so I went wild on my very boring blue plastic folder. I had a nice afternoon playing with this without really knowing how it was going to turn out. I used Brilliance Moonlight White with the FF flower stamps: Did the back first and heat set that and, as that didn't smudge and the folder didn't melt, I was brave and did the front and embossed it as well. Then painted with acrylics and added a papier maché slider covered with squared paper from FF 'Cool co-ordinates' and my name in coloured peel-offs on DCWV adhesive ribbon.
Made the spine match my box files with FF 'Do ya Doodle' paper. Hope it will be robust enough to last the course. Not sure if I over did the painting but I think it is better than the boring file I started with.
