Ismaki 09/008

Sorry to have temporarily disappeared again! I was in the UK last week visiting our new granddaughter and my poorly niece as well as other relations, and even managed several hours at the NEC trade craft fair. I find it frustrating though when you want to spend, spend, spend and come out laden with goodies but you can only order for later delivery: Just not the same! The last card was pre-scheduled so I appreciated the comments even more than usual: Thank you :)
I have been so busy that I have loads that I haven't had time to blog but I'll start catching up with the card made using Bea's Ismaki challenge sketch (rotated 90°) AND the sewing option!
Tilda coloured with Whispers markers; papers: 'Olivine' by Papermania; flowers: Prima and Imaginisce.

Ismaki Challenge

Here's my card for this week's Ismaki sketch. It started off with a completely different Tilda and few layers then organically took over and became a completely different card! I created the A5 card blank with the Eazi-score board and layered papers including PaperMania patterned vellum, a bit of recycling from an old birthday card for the panel and sentiment, ribbons from stash and the magnolia coloured with watercolour pencils. For the Ismaki option of diamonds I cut Floral Borders on the Cuttlebug and used the Xyron to stick them.
I'm still not happy with the photo as the pinks look wierd: They do go well together: Honest!

Ismaki challenge

I used the Ismaki sketch to make a card for my neice's 16th birthday and used my new Papermania Scrumptious papers and the new-to-me Stampendous Tier of Treats stamp coloured with Whispers markers and Papermania glittered flock. I was really pleased with the card but totally frustrated with how the photos came out.My poor neice is still battling with leukaemia : It's been nearly 10 years now since she was first diagnosed and has been through every conceivable treatment and it is hard and depressing that nothing has fully rid her of it. Please pray that she will get a lasting remission.

The glass is definitely half full !

Wierd few days, still not on top form but really great in other ways! Good news is I have won a sample from ShortCuts of clear & frosted cards which I can't wait to get, and this fab candy arrived from Jessi which was a BIG cheer-up! Big thank you Jessi! Can't wait to play with that stamp and just love the images she sent with it, plus her gorgeous card. Also, I was paid for 33 cards this morning with an order for another 20, and have a confirmed place at the Artisan'Arts Marché de Noël at Châteaulin on 22-23rd Nov : Both big incentives to make LOTS of cards and other bits!

Few cards made yesterday: This one was made with the Cartes Maniak challenge #65 and also Nessy's blog candy challenge in mind and I followed the Ismaki sketch at the same time!

Hier, j'ai fait cette carte pour le challenge 'Cartes Maniak' #65 et de Nessy's blog candy, et j'ai suivi le sketch d'Ismaki. Then mounted a few découpage made a while ago, and finally did a bit of stamping :)

Alors, j'ai fini 2 cartes découpage 3D et j'ai fait un carte avec un tampon Alandine en 3D encore :)

Ismaki #29

Voici ma carte de Ismaki sketch challenge #29. Here’s my card for Ismaki’s sketch challenge 29:

I was determined to get a card done as I haven’t felt like my head is connected to my body lately and ended up on thyroid tablets last week, as well as already being on blood pressure tablets, and you have to take both for life once you start, so I am feeling well over my 45 years!!! So, it’ back in the saddle then!

Used: Magnolia image water-coloured and part-glazed, Dovecraft papers and stash bits!

Ismaki challenge 15

Here is my version of this week’s Ismaki sketch: An A5 size card. It's for the SBS13 swap so close your eyes Linda! I made up the ‘long sentence’ the challenge calls for and it’s in French so I hope it is correct: ‘Sur le voyage, nous sommes tous sœurs’ = On the journey, we are all sisters.

First Hampton Art stamp decoupaged with 2nd layer of the woman. Second Hampton Art stamp uses just a small part of the stamp to give me the 4 squares I needed. These were both stamped with black Brilliance and coloured with Distress inks (Frayed Burlap & Shabby Shutters): Stamped these on to waxed paper and picked up and mixed the colours in a mixture of sponging, painting and dragging the distressed edges through the ink.

Sentiment printed on to pale brown Papermania vellum; green-gold paper from The PaperMill shop, Papermania brad, paper flower also coloured with Distress inks.

NEW Funky Fairy papers released!

Funky Fairy released 'Boys and Girls' today so I can show you my first play with them from the girls part:
The first card above was made following the sketch for Ismaki challenge 10 a few weeks back but there was a delay in releasing the papers so I've had to sit on my hands until now! It includes printing one of the papers on both pink vellum and on acetate which is why I love downloads - so versatile.

I really enjoyed having a good girly play adding the dresses, shoes, bags, etc.
These go soooo well with the brilliant Pinkie Pops and lots of other Funky Fairy sets so it is really easy to mix and match but there is also loads in the collection as it is. The boys section is totally fab so it won't be long before you're seeing lots of that too!

Ismaki Challenge 13

I wanted to make a card for my niece who is in hospital at the moment - something girly and teenage (she's 15). She's been battling leukaemia since she was 6 and is having a particularly rough time at the moment trying out a new chemo so I hope this cheers her up a bit.
I used this week's Ismaki sketch, including the option of having 3 flowers, with Funky Fairy Pinkie Pops papers and toppers, glitter gel pen and lashings of holographic glitter glue to accent the flowers and heart.

Ismaki Challenge #12

Used this week's Ismaki challenge sketch to make a card for my step-daughter's 30th. I was struggling for ideas until I saw the sketch and then it all seemed to come together and I am really pleased with how the little outfit of the reduced version of the backing paper brings the colours together.
Used: Funky Fairy 'blue' collection (2 papers) and printed the 30 on, Pink Pettcoat Lilli image painted with H2Os and 'dressed' with reduced-size Funky Fairy paper overprinted with the image, Tim Holtz' grungeboard painted with black acrylic, Prima's, MM brads and ribbon from my stash. First use of grungeboard and I love it: The flourish painted black looks and feels like leather. It's weird material but great to use.

Ismaki 10

There's an interesting sketch for Ismaki challenge 10 which I've followed for this 30th card for my nephew. There's a whole paper-weaving thing going on in the middle there which just happened and rather took me by surprise but I am quite happy with. It was weird sticking down lots of layers together though!

Ismaki sketch challenge #9

This week's sketch on Ismaki involves lots of layering with the option of 'pets'. Mine is fairly true to the sketch: Although it has sunk down the card a little, all the layers are there. Not sure if petting a fish counts for the option?
I don't know the make of the stamp as it came to me unmounted but I used Royal Blue Colour box ink and embossed with holographic powder, layered on dark blue silk paper, card in blues and orange and papermania patterned paper. I coloured the sentiment and Anita's peel-off shells with orange permanent pen to help them blend in.
